Historic Home Rehabilitation

IMG_2068.JPEG

This Lexington, KY home is special for a few reasons. I knew it was old when its owner approached me about a major rehabilitation and addition; however, when I contacted local historians, I learned that it was built just after the Civil War by a former enslaved person. Next, the home featured an outdoor well that we sought to incorporate into the design. Finally, the existing structure (a two room building on the left-hand side of the render above) was in terrible disrepair, having been unoccupied for several years. The homeowner's goals were to update the home with modern conveniences, increase the square footage, and preserve some of the historic charm. The images featured here are plans and 3D renderings of the design; construction is underway!
